| description |
|
| The nautilus fossils from the Isle of Sheppey are amongst the finest to be found in the British Isles. This particular specimen has most of its original shell which is highly opalescent. The nautilus shell has a broken chamber, in which the Siphuncle is beautifully preserved. The siphuncle was used to pump fluid out of empty chambers in order to adjust its buoyancy. A beautiful, aesthetic and very interesting specimen. Fossils Direct is a premium collectors website. |
