This specimen is totally matrix free and is preserved beautifully on both sides. This is by far the fines Nautilus we have ever offered from this well known locality of Blockley. An outstanding specimen! which deserves to go into the finest of collections!
This specimen was collected in the 1970's by Peter Langham and was on display in the "Dinosaur Land" Museum,Lyme Regis. We purchased this specimen when the museum changed hands and it has been in the same collection ever since. The specimen consists of a complete calcified, very large, Xipheroceras, preserved to its mouth border and to add to its overall aesthetics is a piece of Monkey Puzzle wood and a small scattering of Promicroceras planicosta. Specimens of this size and quality are very rarely found and are highly sought after amongst the elite collectors. An extremely desirable piece that would grace any "top end" collection. Approximately 200 million years old.
Found in the 1980's is this exceptional and very rare ammonite from this well known oolite locality. Many hours of careful preparation have gone into revealing not just only the main ammonite but the small ammonites and the fabulous belemnites which really add aesthetics to this piece. The specimen has a cut base with felt attached and makes a fantastic aesthetic display specimen. The overall size of the piece is 36cm x 26cm. More photographs are available in "Showcase Fossils".
Preserved in a large matrix bowl is this very large Becheiceras specimen which is surrounded by 13 Androgynoceras' and one Tragophylloceras. The specimen has been meticulously cleaned to this high standard. Specimens of this size are rare and are highly sought after amongst ammonite collectors throughout the world. A large display specimen from the world famous Jurassic coastline of Lyme Regis.
