From an old University collection comes this lovely, highly tactile echinoid specimen with its spines preserved. These echinoids are probably the most classic of all sea urchins to be found on the British Isles and are highly collectable. Specimens with spines are very rare and we have only had a few that we have ever offered for sale. The specimen has the label attached and would make a fine drawer specimen. A classic specimen from a classic locality.

Chalk fossils are a particular favourite with us at Fossils Direct as the contrast between the fossil and chalk is so stark - they just stand out!! Preserved on a squared piece of chalk is this exceptional and almost totally complete, large spine . The detail throughout is almost of gem quality and the specimen comes from a very famous chalk pit in Bromley, which is a classic site for most of all the chalk fossils that are illustrated in monographs.
