Name |
Clypeus ploti (Lovely example)

Clypeus were once referred to as "Pound Stones" and were used as weights especially weighing dairy products. This is a superb example which has been aesthetically presented on a piece of oolithic limestone which also has a cut base for ease of display. The specimen has been repaired however this does not detract from the overall aesthetics. A lovely specimen that could be used in the home or office space or indeed as a collectors piece. |

This stunning example exhibits five echinoids, one in particular has wonderful radiating attached spines. The specimen itself was collected in 1968 from a temporary exposure which is now a wooded area. Very few articulated specimens came from this long lost locality. The fossil resided in the late professor GORDON WALKDEN collection. Approximately 167 million years old. One for the serious collector of rare multi UK echinoid pieces. A really nice example of this classic Jurassic echinoid. The test is pretty much perfect and has marvellous detail throughout. The specimen was discovered in 1999 and has remained in the late professor GORDON WALKDEN collection ever since. A lovely drawer fossil for the collector. Fossils Direct is a collectors website. |
