Name |
Cenoceras stiatum (Transluscent Calcite))
ref |
NAUT662 |
This wonderfully preserved solid calcite nautilus was discovered by the late John Huxtable in 1978. This locality had only three temporary excavations, all by hand! Many hours of preparation has gone into this specimen by Andy Cowap. One side of the nautilus has been slightly crushed in towards the shell's centre, however, the main side is absolutely perfect and when held up to a light, the transluscent pale yellow calcite glows, absolutely wonderful. Nautilus from this incredibly rare locality are very scarce to obtain thesedays. One for the collector of aesthetic beautiful fossils. Approximately 170 million years old. |

This is a super rare fossil and only the second one we have personally ever seen. The specimen is a beak from a Nautilus and was used like jaws. This is a unique opportunity to own a very rare but sought after fossil. |
