| This piece is from a lifetime collection of a very well known fossil shark expert, one of his specialities was chimerid fish. These fish come from an ancient lineage of cartilaginous fish that still exist today. Chimerid's are known informally as "Ghost Sharks, Rat Fish or Rabbit Fish". This particular specimen is exceptionally rare and its almost a perfect left palatine plate that is exceptionally well preserved. |
