| description |
|
| First described by BAYLE in 1878, this large and highly irridescent Gault Clay ammonite would grace any collection. It was discovered in 1972 and resided, until now, in the important Gault Clay Underhill Collection. Only very few of this rare species have been found this size. The colour spectrum displayed at certain angles on the ammonite exhibit deep reds, green, orange and the odd flash of yellow. Ammonites from this world famous locality are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain or collect thesedays. Certainly one for the serious collector!! Approximately 108 million years old. Fossils Direct is a premium collectors website. |
