| description |
|
| This rare and stunning example was discovered by David Sole circa 1996 and prepared by Andy Cowap. Many painstaking hours have gone into preparing this ammonite, as the matrix which encapsulated it, is incredibly hard and sticks to the ammonite's shell. The specimen has its mouth border and has an immaculate centre. Ammonites from this locality are rare to obtain nowadays and they are hardly ever seen for sale on the open market. This locality was backfilled some 30 years ago. Approximately 184 million years old. One for the serious and discerning collector of Scunthorpe ammonites. Fossils Direct is a premium collectors website. |
