This is a little piece of history. This specimen was collected in the days of "Camp Siluria" around the 1860's. Whoever found this specimen has taken time to mount it in a pocket sized wooden box which is hinged to reveal the fish fossil. On the other side is a hand drawn drawing of the fish which is very unusual. It is our opinion that this pocket sized box was carried around and shown to various people/ a possible teaching aid. The actual fossil fish is a rarity indeed and more or less complete with excellent preservation throughout. A wonderful piece of paleontological history. |
