Cladodus is an extinct genus of cartilaginous fishes in the family Ctenacanthidae. These priitive sharks are approximately 345 milli8on years old. This tooth is complete and is exceptionally rare. It has been preserved in a piece of crinoidal limestone and has magnificent detail throughout. The tip of the tooth is slightly displaced. The specimen was discovered in 1959 and identified by Gilles Cunny, a Carboniferous shark expert. This fossil resided inh the late Professor GORDON WALKDEN collection. One for the serious and discerning Palaeozoic shark collector. Fossils Direct is a premium collectors site. |
