These bellerophontiform molluscs are much prized by collectors. Some scientists think there a mixture of gastropoods and monoplacophorans (an ancient group of untorted, limpet-like molluscs). The specimen has been preserved in 3 dimensions and has a lovely centre and overall features. A true rarity in the ordovician record and a lovely addition for the discerning collector. Approximately 445 million years old. Fossils Direct is a premium collectors website. |
