Dalmanites cf caudatus (Wonderful Example)

|
Dalmanites from the Silurian limestone are amongst the most collected and highly sought after "bugs". The specimen has been carefully prepared from the surrounding matrix to reveal a complete trilobite. The actual trilobite is basically enrolled "doubled up" and is difficult to photograph but as seen from the images it can be seen that it has a complete head, body and tail. A fine example of an excessively rare trilobite. |

This classic 'Dudley Bug' is enrolled and has been preserved in a lovely cream colour. The detail throughout is fantastic. The specimen was discovered loose on the ground in 1963 and has remained in the same collection ever since, the late professor GORDON WALKDEN'S. These classic trilobites from this world iconic silurian locality are virtually non existent to find thesedays, nearly all of the specimens come from old collections! One for the discerning collector. Fossils Direct is a premium collectors website. |

This fine specimen was discovered in 1971 and has really good detail throughout. This world famous fossil locality does not exist anymore as a viable location, for the last twenty years or more any form of collecting is strictly prohibited This is why fossils from here are incredibly rare. This particular trilobite was eyeless and like all raphiophorids, had a long straight sword-like frontal spine. This fantastic specimen resided in the late GORDON WALKDEN collection. One for the serious collector of rare trilobites and localities from the UK |
