Clypeus were once referred to as "Pound Stones" and were used as weights especially weighing dairy products. This is a superb example which has been aesthetically presented on a piece of oolithic limestone which also has a cut base for ease of display. A lovely specimen that could be used in the home or office space or indeed as a collectors piece.
Although Micrasters from the chalk are common, it is rare to get such a beautiful and aesthetic double such as this. The chalk has been beautifully sculptured around the echinoids. This is a beautiful piece - one for the collector.
This is a large specimen from this classic British locality which is sadly no longer there. The specimen is from an old collection and has been re-prepared to extract the wonderful detail throughout this matrix free, three dimensional specimen. A British classic.
