  As can be seen from the images, you can see why this is referred to as "Beetroot Stone". These ancient Stromatolites are structures formed in shallow water by organisms called "cyanobacteria". This specimen has been cut and polished to reveal the beautiful structure within the stone. A classic stromatolite!

  This wonderful example of a 175 million year old sponge was discovered in 1982 in Horn Park quarry. These large sponges are very rare to obtain thesedays.   This classic internal mould of a Myophorella bivalve shell was discovered in 1971 and resided in the late professor GORDON WALKDEN collection ever since. The detail throughout is fantastic and it has all the usual characteristics for this shell which is approximately 150 million years old. A lovely drawer fossil for the collector.
