Faringdon in Oxfordshire is world famous for its fossil sponges and other material. Sadly, these sponges are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain thesedays. This specimen was collected in 1988. The sponge is totally three dimensional and has the characteristic orange colour as with all of these. A superb drawer specimen.   Age Cretaceous, U. This specimen was collected last century and has been carefully removed from a large block of chalk. The specimen is totally matrix free and is highly three dimensional.
