description |
|
This specimen was discovered in the early 1970's and was trawled up in the Solent, the stretch of water between Southampton and the Isle of Wight. This specimen Palaeoloxdon, is a straight tusked extinct elephant which lived some 50,000 years ago. The specimen found its way into the sea when a Tsunami event happened some 8000 years ago and separated the Isle of Wight from the mainland. The specimen has been presented on a bespoke oak stand to enable it to be displayed to its full potential. An amazing piece for either the interior or office space and a good conversation piece from this extinct animal. Super sized images can be viewed in "Showcase Fossils". Please note that there are certain import restrictions for the shipping of this specimen. Overseas buyers - please check with us before ordering. |
