description
This articulated back end of a large turtle is stunning quality and exceptionally rare. Very few of these 135 million year old articulated turtles have been discovered from this area of the Purbeck. This specimen was found in 1977 and has been fully prepared by Andy Cowap. The turtle's carapace has wonderful details on the bones and scutes. Fossils Direct know several high profile collectors of Purbeck fossils that has prospected for years and not one of them has discovered anything like or as good as this! This tremendous fossil turtle resided in the late GORDON WALKDEN collection. A complete one off fossil from Acton and one for the collector of incredibly important English fossil reptiles. With this fossil comes a black display stand.
