description |
|
This classic Oxfordian rarity was discovered by Mark Varah in 1983. Mark is a highly skilful and knowledgeable collector, especially around Oxfordshire/Gloucestershire and has written and collaborated on many scientific ammonite papers. The specimen itself has its characteristic outer spines preserved. This locality is no longer accessible to the collector. The ammonite resided in the late GORDON WALKDEN collection. Preserved in pyrite and is appriximately 165 million years old. |
