description |
|
Captured in this small nodule are these two classic middle liassic ammonites , the smaller one being Amaltheus margaritatus. This is an old collection piece and was discovered in 1978 and remained in the same collection ever since. Along this stretch of beach it is hard to find any of these ammonites, but two different species together , is special and rare. The Lytoceras has wonderful phlanges preserved as delicate features on its whorls and is highly aesthetic. Very rarely do you get fossils of this quality coming onto the open market for sale. An absolute classic double from England's Jurassic coast. Approximately 190 milliion years old. |
