description |
|
This stunning lytoceras was prepared by Andy Cowap in 2003 and is one of the rarest oolithic ammonites from Burton Bradstock! We have only ever seen two specimens before and one of those was a partial. The ammonite has been preserved in solid calcite and has a fair number of phlanges preserved which is a rare feature. There is also a belemnite guard preserved which adds to the overall aesthetics. The ammonite lies on a generous piece of oolithic matrix which also has a flat base for upright display purposes. This superb fossil would make a statement piece for any collection. Approximately 167 million years old. |
