description |
|
This complete Liparoceras is exceptionally well preserved both sides and has an immaculate centre. The specimen itself was collected in 1960 from Battledown Brickworks, which closed in 1969 and turned into a rubbish tip. It is now a playing field. Any fossils from this long lost locality are highly prized by collectors, especially ones of this superb calibre. Most Liparoceras shells are blown near their aperture, however this one is absolutely perfect apart from slight crushing near the mouthborder. This specimen has remained in the same collection ever since the 1960's. A magnificent ammonite for the serious collector of fine and rare UK ammonites. |
