description |
|
A fantastic and highly aesthetic combination of ammonites and fossilised wood. Many hours of preparation have gone into this marvellous fossil. The piece exhibits the main ammonite plus two Promicroceras planicosta either side, the piece of rock on which the ammonites are preserved is overlying a lovely piece of fossilised wood from the ancient Monkey Puzzle tree which also has a really nice texture and colour. The fossil was discovered in 1999 from the 'Dead Mans Tree' area of Black Ven famed for its woodstones and superb preservation. Woodstones are only found from Black Ven and nowhere else in the world!! One for the collector of fine and unique fossils. Fossils Direct are constantly striving to bring to our customers old and new the very finest prepared material from around the United Kingdom. Approximately 200 million years old. |
