A superb example of this uncommon lower liassic ammonite which has been preserved predominantly in solid calcite with small patches of pyrite. The centre is immaculate and the specimen has been partly distorted during preservation which only adds to its rustic charm and aesthetics. The ammonite itself was discovered in 2012 after a very high tide ripped nodules out of the banking. The small patch of matrix on the bottom has a cut base for upright display options. Approximately 202 million years old. A lovely display piece.
