description |
|
First described by d'Orobigny in 1850, this very rare upper liassic ammonite has many of its inner spines preserved which is a really aeathetic feature and an immaculate centre. Many hours of preparation have gone into this super specimen. Heavy collecting restrictions and fields of solar panels are making hard work of collecting very little from this locality. This fine fossil was discovered in 1981 after heavy rains revealed it on the surface. One for the serious collector. Approximately 180 million years old. |
