description |
|
A rare combination indeed from this world famous fossil locality. The fish (Proleptolepis furcata.NYBELIN) has a wonderfully preserved head but the rest of the body is faint but still there, minus the end of its tail. The ammonite has been preserved in solid pale yellow calcite and the wood fragment is from the "Monkey Puzzle" tree. An extremely rare combination to get these together on one piece of rock. Approximately 200 million years old. |
