description |
|
Within this 200 million year old nodule is caputured a moment in time from an ancient sea bed. The quality is superb throughout, especially on the three dimenstional piece of branch preserved with knots and stunning texture. The branch comes from the ancient Monkey Puzzle Tree which covered the area in thick pockets. Many hours of preparation have gone into this wonderful display piece. Every ammonite has been preserved in solid calcite and you can even tell the direction of the current as the ammonites are banked up to one side of the branch. It is quite a rarity that high quality fossils containing magnificent wood and ammonites come on to the open market from this world famous fossil locality. The matrix has a cut and level base for display purposes. A totally one off piece. An Andy Cowap "Special" !!! |
