This fantastic Sonninia has been preserved with most of its spines intact and has an immaculate centre. Many hours of preparation have gone into this ammonite which was discovered encased in rock in 1988. Sonninia's of this size and rarity from classic old sites around the Dorset area are few and far between thesedays. Most of these localities do not exist anymore as collecting locations. The specimen has some small worm tubes preserved on both sides which is a nice feature. One for the serious collector of rare Oolithic ammonites. Approximately 173 million years old.
