description |
|
This ammonite is extremely rare from these shores. We have only found a handful of specimens in over twenty years of collecting from this famous fossil locality. The erosion rate is virtually non existent and the fossiliferous rocks are becoming less and less over a short period of time. The ammonite has an immaculate centre and is preserved in solid calcite. Small patches of shell remain with beautiful detail on the surface and lovely complex sutures under the shell also preserved. Serious collectors of rare UK Oolithic ammonites will appreciate how rare this fossil is. Approximately 175 million years old. This is a highly aesthetic display specimen and has a level base for ease of display.
