description |
|
This incredible specimen is a composite of other original ammonites and the missing pieces accurately filled with resin. This is one of the finest examples of this Cretaceous ammonite we have come across. This uncoiling of ammonites is called a Heteromorph and its still not understood what role this evolutionary trait was for function wise. This ammonite is a classic from the clays of Speeton. Collectors will appreciate ow rare this specimen is, even though it is a sympathetic composite. This magnificent Heteromorph resides in the late GORDON WALKDEN collection. |
