description |
|
Discovered in 1984, this substantial remains of a turtle's plastron. The plastron provides a bony exoskeleton for the ventral side of the turtle, you could call it the belly surface of the turtle's shell. This particular example has magnificent details and belonged to a large individual. Substantial turtle remains from this locality are very rare to find thesedays. This particular locality is no longer accessible to collect fossils. Yet another lost site! It resided in the late GORDON WALKDEN collection. Approximately 135 million years old. One for the serious collector. |
