description |
|
This amazing pathological juvenile brittlestar is one of only perhaps a dozen known so far. The close up details on the body and arms are striking and beautiful. It was discovered in 1981 and has remained in the same collection since. Usually the brittlestars have five arms, so to get one with four only, is a real collectors piece. Any brittlestars from this locality are becoming incredibly rare to find thesedays. Approximately 190 million years old. The brittlestar lies in a natural hard siltstone matrix.
