This superb specimen was discovered in 1991 by David Sole and prepared by Andy Cowap. The rock stands upright on its natural base and is a beautiful aesthetic display item for the collector or a unique piece for around the home. The fossil exhibits a complete oyster shell (Gryphaea mccullochii),a lovely belemnite guard preserved in dark brown calcite and a rare type of Cardinia Bivalve preserved in green chamosite. There are dozens of other small bivalves on the rock surface. All these quarries are now closed and backfilled. A really nice and rare collectors piece which is approximately 200 million years old. Fossils Direct is a premium collectors website. |
