description |
|
Fossils from the Red Crag are highly collectable and very sought after, especially nowadays as all the exposures are basically gone due to over-mining and erosion. This is a ray dermal denticle which has the same embryological origin as the teeth in the ray's mouth. These teeth have simply migrated to the skin. A very rare and very interesting specimen. One for the serious collector. |
