description |
|
This amazing see through specimen has to be preserved in a certain type of calcite in order for this to happen. When a light source is placed at the rear of the ammonite, the whole shell glows transparent and the sutures really stand out, extremely rare preservation. The specimen has has many hours invested into it and would make a unique one off display piece for either the collector or around the home. Approximately 170 million years old. The ammonite lies on a small piece of oolithic matrix, which has a natural stand in its base. Fossils Direct is a premium collectors website. |
