This partial ammonite whorl is packed with wonderfully preserved 'Nail Head' calcite crystals, the light refracts beautifully through the large crystal. This specimen was unearthed by the late John Huxtable from a temporary exposure in 1984. Exceptionally rare to get these calcite growths in this rare oolithic ammonite chamber. Approximately 170 million years old. Fossils Direct is a premium collectors website. |
