description |
|
This incomplete but incredible chalk starfish was discovered in 1999 and has resided in the late GORDON WALKDEN collection ever since. This specimen exhibits associated central disc and arm ossicles. Only very rarely is a complete starfish found in the chalk and the vast majority of those are in museums. This example may? have been predated on before its death. The quality is superb and would grace any English chalk collection. There is also a picture which accompanies the specimen of a mostly complete example in the NHM. |
