Again another superb example of a shark coprolite encased within a nodule that has been ground gem smooth then a professional polish applied to reveal the coprolite's internal structure. The detail is very good throughout, especially under a hand lens. These rare fossils are found in the bottom of a riverbed. Approximately 345 million years old.
This beautiful example displays a 'spray' of promicroceras and beneath lies a piece of fossil wood. All the ammonites are solid calcite and have been prepared by Andy Cowap.Fossil wood and ammonite associations always make for an interesting visual display. The matrix has a cut base for ease of display. Approximately 200 million years old.
