  ref AMM5711
This one off oolithic ammonite has been ground gem smooth and finally a high polish applied to reveal the most stunning suture lines. The ammonite was discovered by Andy Cowap in 1987 and has remained in his private collection until today. Any quality ammonites from this world famous locality are incredibly scarce to find thesedays, due in part, to overcollecting by universities, schools, colleges and private individuals. Also there is little erosion at Bearreraig. This awesome spoecimen is double sided and has had many hours of preparation spent on it in order to make it as good as this. This ammonite would grace any collection and is approximately 168 million years old. The ammonite's siphuncle is also visible around the ventre of the shell, which is a really aesthetic feature.

Click to enlarge   Name Stephanoceras humphriesianum (Display ammonite)
  ref AMM5707
A wonderful and highly aesthetic display ammonite which is approximately 170 million years old. The ammonites centre is very good and the whole specimen is highly ribbed. There is a very small patch of restoration on the reverse side of the ammonite, this does not detract whatsoever to the viewing side. The matrix has a level base for upright display. Specimens of this quality are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain as this locality was only temporary. One for the discerning collector or an interior designer.
