This very well preserved fossil exhibits a beautifully preserved solid calcite ammonite alongside a fragment of fossilised wood, probably from the ancient Monkey Puzzle tree. The matrix has no cut base and has been left natural as a specimen piece. Approximately 200 million years old.
This really nice example of a microconch Cleveiceras is uncommon from this locality. The ammonite has been preserved in calcite and has good detail throughout. A very good and important drawer specimen for the collector.
