Approximately 200 million years ago, billions of these small ammonites (Promicroceras planicosta) were killed off in a single catastrophic event. The detail and colours throughout are marvellous.

Whilst fairly common on the Yorkshire coast, this type is much rarer in Somerset. This ammonite was discovered in 1988 and has been fully prepared on one side. Approximately 180 million years old.
