  This wonderfully preserved ammonite has an immaculate centre both sides and strong light will pass through it and illuminate the ammonite which is a lovely feature. Also both sides of the ammonite's negative/counterpart has been preserved and the whole puzzle fits neatly together. A fantastic and totally unique conversation piece which is approximately 200 million years old. There is also a yellow calcite Promicroceras planicosta preserved.

The ammonite's negative/counterpart has been preserved, this makes an aesthetic feature, which is uncommon. A one off and a lovely conversation piece for any home or collection.   This very rare fossil is believed to be, by lots of scientists to be the jaw apparatus of ammonites. This exceptionally well preserved example is totally complete and belongs to the ammonite Arnioceras semicostatoides. These aptychi (Jaws) are very rarely seen preserved within the ammonites living chamber because after the ammonite's death, the jaw apparatus nearly always becomes dis-attached due to organic breakdown of muscle tissues. A beautiful and very interesting fossil which is approximately 200 million years old.
