Click to enlarge   Name Clypeus ploti (Stunning Double)
  ref ECH436
These classic sea urchins were once referred to as "Pound Stones or Chedworth Buns" and were used before standardisation of measurements (Weights). Dairy maids used these "pound stones" to weigh out butter and cream because the echinoids are all very uniform in shape, size and weight. This example is an exceptional piece consisting of two echinoids that have been beautifully prepared from the surrounding matrix and are basically lying on top of each other. The specimen is very aesthetic and highly sought after.
