  These fish coprolites are contained within ironstone nodules and are only found in one particular riverbed. When the nodules are sliced open they can be ground smooth and polished, revealing these fish coprolites. Every coprolite has septarian calcite lines radiating outwards which makes them not only very interesting to study but aesthetic too. Approximately 345 million years old. This specimen was collected in 1973, they are rare to find thesedays.

  Around the London area 40 million years ago, was a warm and tropical sea in which lived a wide range of marine fauna. This particular specimen is from a very large fish and is a perfect three dimensional, matrix free vertebra of high quality. This would make a lovely drawer specimen.
