  This is a typical Precompressum being the largest type of the Promicroceras.   A beautifully preserved example of this uncommon Ludwigia from the shores of Skye. Most of the ammonites found at this locality are Morphospecies. This particular specimen was rescued from the destructive power of the sea in 1998. Fossils in general are rare to find thesedays from this location due to the lack of erosion and over collecting by schools, colleges and private individuals This fossil would make an important addition to the collector and the ammonites have been fully prepared. Approximately 175 million years old.
