  ref AMM5150
This beautifully preserved Scunthorpe ammonite comes with its own wrought iron display stand. The ammonite has been preserved in solid calcite and exhibits many colours including browns, creams, whites and the odd fleck of pink. There is no restoration whatsoever, just a small repair on the reverse side. Scunthorpe ammonites are becoming very rare indeed as all the quarries were backfilled in the early 90's. These fossils are not only stunning as display objects, but a sound investment for the future. Fossils Direct are constantly striving to bring our customers both old and new, the very finest fossils from around the United Kingdom. Approximately 200 million years old.

There is a small patch of crushed shell near the aperture but you cannot see this from the main side. The ammonite is complete with some of its mouth border preserved. Serious collectors will appreciate how rare this oolithic ammonite is and certainly an important addition for the discerning collector. Approximately 169 million years old.

This beautiful display piece exhibits two solid calcite ammonites and a Bivalve shell (Cardinia gigantea). The very centres of both ammonites are not preserved and unlike ost other specimens you see around they are not carved in, they look much better natural. Sadly this iconic quarry closed and was filled in some twenty years ago, so any material from here is becoming increasingly scarse to obtain. This unique piece would grace any home or office space and is approximately 200 million years old.
